I began practicing yoga in my twenties, in my hometown of Caracas, Venezuela. At the time, I was training for a triathlon, and a friend invited me to join a yoga class after a cycling session. From that very first class, I fell in love with the practice. Yoga soon became a regular part of my routine, complementing my other athletic pursuits. What drew me in the most was the profound connection I began to feel with my body, the awareness of my breath, and a deep sense of spirituality that’s hard to put into words.
I completed my teacher training later in life, after getting married and having my three children. We had moved to Atlanta, Georgia for my husband’s job, and since returning to my dentistry career was both difficult and expensive, I decided to transform my hobby into my passion. In 2019, I completed my first 200-hour yoga teacher training. I then pursued another 200 hours of training with a beloved teacher from Venezuela, now based in Chile. I’ve also trained to teach yoga to pregnant people and children, and I’m currently a yoga therapist trainee as well as a certified Rocket Yoga teacher.
Yoga has become one of the greatest loves of my life. I’m deeply inspired by the sense of community it creates—where everyone is welcome, no matter their level of experience. What I cherish most is that yoga is a practice not only for the body, but also for the mind and the heart, both on and off the mat.
