Fed is an actor. But don’t tell anybody.
He took his first Bikram class on 1st of October 2003 in Chiswick and he hasn’t looked back since. Having played waterpolo for 9 years in his teens (in his native Italy), upon his move to England, he was looking for an exercise / physical activity, in the world, which would require the same level of intensity and could be fun as well. Bikram Yoga was just the ticket, being incredibly demanding and allegedly the Rock’n’Roll of fitness, with the added bonus of healing the body, as opposed to gradually wearing it out, like any other sports. His skin, lower back, sleeping patterns and mental clarity improved just after a few classes: it was the most incredible transformation he had ever witnessed.
During the following months, having fallen totally in love with the yoga, he found himself roaming around the Chiswick Studio quite a lot and in the end, probably out of pure frustration, Helen decided to give him a job as a manager. “You know this studio inside out and you’re here all the time anyway: you might as well do some work!”. Helen didn’t actually say that, but the thought was there for sure.
After seven years of consistent and regular practice, Fed decided it was time to have another unstable career and embarked on the Bikram Yoga Teacher Training Course, in September 2010, in San Diego.
Teaching and sharing his practice with other people is the most rewarding job Fed has ever had. He’s extremely grateful to both his mentors, Helen and Syd, and all the other outstanding Chiswick teachers, for guiding him and helping him through this incredible journey.
Q&A time 2025 Addition:
How did you discover yoga?
At the same time as the legendary American hip-hop group Black Eyed Peas topped the UK charts with the unforgettable “Where Is The Love”, my then girlfriend finally convinced me – after four months of trying – to take advantage of the bargain offer of “£10 for 10 consecutive days” at the local studio, BYC. I started teaching there seven years later, and my then girlfriend is now my wife. Turns out, ‘the love’ was there the whole time.
