Raw Cacao:

Raw Cacao is a powerful plant medicine that has been used ceremonially for thousands of years across Central and South America.

Cacao is unlike other plant medicines in that it doesn’t take you on a journey, but gently supports you in wherever you are at. Cacao is a more subtle energy that works with you based on what is happening inside. Raw cacao is considered a heart opener due to certain active ingredients and people generally describe cacao as a heart-centered energy because it significantly increases blood flow and generates an expansive feeling, often centered around the heart.

In combination with the allowing practice of Yin Yoga we will use yoga poses supporting the realiser of tensions in the upper body. Yin yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body; the tendons, fascia, and ligaments with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility.

What is Yin Yoga:

Yin Yoga is a slow, mediative style of yoga practised mainly on the floor. Postures are held for several minutes at a time, so practitioners can access deep tissues, such as the connective tissue and the fascia. Many of the postures focus on areas involving joints i.e hips, sacrum and spine.
“Yin yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body; the tendons, fascia, and ligaments-with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. A meditative approach to yoga, yin aims to cultivate awareness of inner silence, and bringing to light a universal, interconnecting quality”
About the workshop:
Take some time for yourself and discover how wonderful it can feel to let go and surrender into a slow Yin practice.
With the body supported by props, the muscles can let go and we can allow the pose to sink into the deeper tissues of the body.
This benefits us physiologically, as we can target the deep fascia and safely exercise our joints. Furthermore, the emotional and psychological benefits of letting go and accepting ‘what is’ are huge.
Who can attend this workshop?:

We will start with drinking Ceremonial Raw Cacao together and learn more about the cacao plant and its medicinal proprieties.  Followed by Yin meditation and yin heart opening yoga practice. We will end the workshop with raw chocolate treats and a grounding meditation.

Introducing Laura:

Laura has been practicing Yoga since 2005 and qualified as a Bikram Yoga Teacher at Bikram’s Yoga College of India in Palm Desert, California in 2009.

Since then she has taught full time all over London and beyond. More recently she travelled to Vancouver, Canada to to train with Yin Yoga teachers Bernie Clark and Diana Batts and completed a Chinese Medicine and Yin Yoga module with Jo Phee at Triyoga. Laura is finding that this slower paced, meditative form of yoga is an excellent compliment to the more ‘Yang’ style practice of Bikram Yoga.

What Laura likes most about the yoga she teaches is it’s accessibility to all body types, all ages, all shapes and sizes and all abilities. She is committed to helping people find the therapeutic benefits of a yoga practice for themselves

 Introducing Iren:

“Heart Opening Yin Yoga & Ceremonial Cacao Workshop combines my favourite things on this planet: open loving hearts, raw cacao & chocolate and yoga!”

Iren Merdinyan, founder of Raw Bonbon, is raw chocolatier & patissier. “Raw Bonbon started as a dream for healthy yet delicious chocolate sweets 6 years ago, which are to be enjoyed by everyone and not only the raw food aficionados. I like the look and the feel of things, which are done with awareness and care. My passion for delicious and high quality raw chocolate and desserts has taken me deeper into the exploration of the medicinal benefits of the raw ceremonial cacao. It’s truly one of the most powerful superfoods and it’s very connected to the heart. For me having an open heart is a key for learning in life as it allows us to be vulnerable and willing to try, to have the freedom to make mistakes
